Horses seized from
a Meridian farm recently are doing well and will be ready for adoption soon. |
The deadline to apply for adoption of these horses will be May first. The applications will then be reviewed by a committee
and approved homes will be contacted prior to the start of the adoption process.
Applications are also available at all Treasure Valley Zamzow’s stores.
Potential adopters will not be allowed on the site where the animals are being held, but will be able to view photographs
of the horses which can be seen at the animal shelter located at 4775 Dorman Street in Boise, or by logging on to the shelter’s
website at Idaho Humane Society.
Each of these horses has been assigned a number which will identify it. Potential adopters will be asked to make a first,
second and third selection on their application. The adoption fees will run from $75 to $200.
“The interest and support of the public has been overwhelming,” said Susan Clark, spokesperson for the Animal
Control Division of the Idaho Humane Society. “We are hoping that this interest will lead to the eventual adoption of
each of these horses to a responsible and loving home,” said Clark.
Currently the animals are being cared for by volunteers, Idaho Humane Society staff and staff members from the Idaho Equine
Center. Clark said the horses are doing well and appear to be thriving, and she expects the first horses will likely be available
for adoption by May 15th.
For more information regarding the adoption of these horses, contact Susan Clark at 342-3508 ext. 273.
Financial donations for medical expenses and for food may be made to Christine Moore at the Idaho Humane Society. Her phone
number is 387-2760.
The shelter is open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. daily.
